Booking and confirming appointments

Remote consultations

  • Remote consultations take place via Zoom or telephone
  • If you have private medical insurance, please check with your insurer that they cover remote consultations
  • Remote new patient assessments can only take place via Zoom (video)
  • Zoom (video) consultations are preferable for follow-up appointments
    • In instances where this may not be possible, phone consultations are an option
  • You will receive the Zoom link within 48-hours of the appointment time.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the connectivity required to join the Zoom meeting at the time of your appointment
    • If you have not connected with me within the first 20 minutes of your appointment time, you will forfeit the remainder of the appointment
    • Where possible, I will try to phone you if you have not joined the Zoom session, and I have not heard from you
    • If you have not connected to the Zoom meeting, and I cannot reach you via telephone, you will be deemed to have missed your appointment and you will not be eligible for a refund
    • If you join the meeting late (within the first 20 minutes), you will only be reviewed for the remainder of your allocated time

Paying for appointments

  • Self-funding
    • Payment in required in advance of the appointment
    • You will receive the invoice and card payment link prior to the appointment
    • If payment is not made, this may delay and cut into the appointment time, or delay the issuing of a prescription or clinic letter
  • Health insurance
    • I am recognised by the major UK health insurers including, but not limited to, BUPA, BUPA Global, AXA, AXA International, Aviva, Vitality, Simply Health, WPA, Cigna, and Cigna Global.
    • Most insurers require a GP referral letter before authorising treatment
    • If you have medical insurance, you must provide your details (name of insurer, membership, and authorisation numbers) in advance of the consultation
    • Unless you provide these details, you will need to pay for the consultation and reclaim the cost from your insurer
    • For ongoing treatment, it is your responsibility to ensure that each appointment is authorised
    • If an unauthorised appointment takes place, you will need to pay for the consultation (prior to requesting a report from me) and reclaim the cost from your insurer.
    • Your insurance policy may be subject to an excess (e.g., the first £100 of a claim, each policy year)
    • This will need to be settled before further appointments can be booked

Outstanding debt

  • Outstanding debt will be passed onto a debt-collection agency, who will then contact you directly
  • Once this process is initiated, you will also be liable for their collection fee and their charges will be added to and payable with the invoice debt
  • This may affect your personal credit rating

Making a payment

  • Bank transfer: Account information is detailed on the invoice
  • Card payments: Please let us know if you would like to pay by debit/credit card so we can issue an online payment link
    • We do not take card payments over the phone

Re-scheduling or cancelling appointments

  • If you are unable to attend your appointment, please let us know at the earliest opportunity
  • Costs are incurred when changes are made at short notice
  • When appointments that are cancelled or rescheduled within 48-business-hours of the consultation date/time, the full fee is charged
  • The same applies if you fail to show up for your appointment (in person) or connect with me (remotely)
  • Medical insurers do not cover cancellations and no-shows, and so you will have to settle the fee at the self-funding rate
  • Cancellations and/or requests to reschedule appointments must be made by email to contact@drwaynekampers.co.uk

Business hours are:

  • 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays and other public holidays)

Issuing of prescriptions following a remote consultation

  • Prescriptions are sent electronically to a pharmacy
  • We do not email prescriptions to patients, nor do we post them to a home or work address
  • Controlled Drug prescriptions (i.e., ADHD medications) are sent electronically to a designated pharmacy in Central London, who can also post the medication using a signed-for delivery method, courier, or DHL
    • The pharmacy will outline the associated cost when they contact you (via WhatsApp)
    • Alternatively you can collect the medication from them in person
  • Regular prescriptions can be sent electronically to a nominated pharmacy
    • You will need to provide the full details - pharmacy name, address, contact telephone number, fax number, and email address
    • You will also need to confirm with the pharmacy that they are willing to issue the medication on the back of an electronic prescription
    • This is essential in order to avoid any delay in you receiving your medication
    • Whilst the hardcopy is always be posted to the pharmacy, there may be a delay in them receiving it
  • Once a prescription has been issued and sent to a nominated pharmacy, it cannot be re-routed to another pharmacy

Repeat prescriptions

  • Prescriptions issued during a consultation should last you until your next follow-up appointment
  • A fee of £50 is therefor made to cover the time and administrative costs of issuing prescriptions outside of an appointment
  • It will not always be possible to issue a repeat prescription outside of an appointment; this will depend on your condition, how long it has been since your last appointment, what medication you are on, and why you require the prescription
  • A request for a repeat prescription should not be a substitute for a consultation
  • At least 72-business hours' notice is required, as well as payment of the prescription fee, before a prescription can be issued
  • FP10 prescriptions for Controlled Drugs (i.e., ADHD medications such as Concerta, Elvanse, and Dexamfetamine) can only be issued within the context of an appointment for 30-days at a time
    • Such medications have special legal controls
  • In some cases, it may be possible for your GP to take over the prescribing of your medication
  • This will depend on the medication you are on, how long you have been taking it for, and whether your GP is willing to do so
  • If you are under my care for treatment of ADHD, you will need to see me on a monthly basis for a reviewing and issuing of your prescription
    • As of 2022, I will no longer enter into any Shared Care Agreement (SCA) with an NHS GP.
    • This will not affect any agreements already in place
    • A SCA should ideally be between an NHS specialist and NHS primary care prescriber (NHS GP)

Statement of Fitness for Work certificates

  • I can only issue a Statement of Fitness for Work note within 24-hours of a formal review/appointment
    • This is a legal requirement
    • In some instances, it may therefore be quicker to contact your GP if you require one
    • It is also worth checking the current guidance on the gov.uk website

Discharge process

  • As part of my duty of care, I have to review my patients on a regular basis (at least every three months), so that I can effectively manage their mental health condition and any associated risks
  • Unless otherwise agreed with me, if you have not seen me for more than three months, you will be considered as having self-discharged from active follow-up and will be discharged from my care
  • Whilst we do usually make contact after each appointment to schedule a follow-up review, it is your responsibility to arrange an appointment if you do not hear from us
  • If you are discharged from my care and wish to be referred back to me at a later stage, I will need an up-to-date GP referral letter before an appointment can be considered
  • If I agree to offer another appointment, I will need to assess you as a new patient (one-hour consultation)

If you proceed with booking an cofiming an appointment, you are deemed to have accepted my Terms and Conditions.
