Sex Addiction
The same compulsive behaviour that characterizes other addictions also is typical of sex addiction. Sexual addiction is characterized by compulsive sexual thoughts and acts that have a negative impact on the addict and on those close to them; the addict usually has to intensify the addictive behaviour to achieve the same results.
The addictive behaviour may involve compulsive sexual activity or the extensive use of pornography or phone or computer sex services but may progress illegal activities such as exhibitionism, voyeurism, obscene phone calls or illegal sexual activities with minors. There may be compulsive searching for multiple partners, compulsive fixation on an unattainable partner, compulsive masturbation, compulsive love relationships or compulsive sexuality in a relationship.
